Champagne Offer - 11/21/2022

Just to be clear, we’re not running a Champagne offer because the Holidays are upon us. Longtime readers and customers know that we drink it on any day that ends in Y, and it certainly doesn’t have to be after 5:00 either. We know this is a busy week—travel, holiday prep, racing work deadlines—so we wanted to share a little something to catch your attention. And what better way to do that than with Champagne?

We’re delighted to circle back with a reup on an old favorite of ours: 2002 Dom Ruinart. While we may feel old that this is somehow now a 20-year-old bottle, the wine itself certainly isn’t. It’s aged remarkably, still fresh and vibrant, but with the complexity and richness that only age brings. Ruinart flies under far too many people’s radars, so let’s be clear: these are world class wines, and they’re available in quantity today, so savvy buyers will pick up at least 6 bottles, especially at this price. Another great deal on the high end is the current release of Cristal. 2014 has been hailed as the most promising vintage since now-legendary 2008, and we’re excited to be able to offer over a case of it today.

Another favorite of ours is Bollinger Grande Année, and both the 2008 and 2014 are (of course) incredible. They show remarkable precision and focus, which is not only great for these two wines, but also points to a very bright future at Bollinger, representing a new chapter of winemaking at the house. Finally, to cap off the day’s offer, we have a couple bottlings from grower Champagne icon Pierre Péters. For blanc de blancs fans, it hardly gets much better than this. Rodolphe Péters is translating Chardonnay into some stunning single vineyard bottlings, most notably Les Chetillons, in Le-Mesnil-sur-Oger. These wines are truly unique expressions of hallowed terroir, and are aging extraordinarily well as they approach 20 years old. Oh, as if that weren’t enough, we’ve even got mags. And that’s Champagne 101: the bigger the bottle, the better the wine. It’s science.
