The Pappy Van Winkle Portfolio

Hello Collectors,

For this week’s Sunday special, we’re showcasing a new parcel of whiskeys from Bourbon County’s DRC: Pappy Van Winkle. Much like Bordeaux, there’s not much new to say about these, some of the most sought-after spirits in the world. But you know what is new (or at least rare) to say? “Today’s offer contains the full core of this legendary distillery’s production, with multiples of each, and up to a case on a couple of them.”

As with any good Bourbon lineup, the longer the aging, the more intense and complex the drinking experience becomes. Flavors and aromas concentrate, fruit notes shift and transform, and oak becomes more and differently pronounced. So, when presented with a range of 10 Year to 23 Year aged spirits, it really becomes a collector’s choose-your-own-adventure. We love putting the younger and older Van Winkle bottlings side by side and seeing just how wildly different they can be. For instance, the mash bills for the 12 Year and the 20 Year are slightly different, with a tiny bit more corn and wheat (and less barley) in the latter. Between that and the significantly longer time in barrel, the 20 Year is an unctuous, rich experience. The Old Rip 12, by contrast, is brighter and lither, but still has the Van Winkle family’s trademark generosity.

Whether your palate skews more youthful and fruity or leathery and spiced, we’ve got you covered today. But as our savvy spirits collectors know, you won’t want to sleep on these, as they’ll disappear quickly. And since we’re enjoying our Sunday evenings, we’ll get to your emailed requests on Monday morning, so place your order directly in our online store to keep from missing out!
