Fall Fashion for the Palate
Hello Collectors,
We love summer as much as anybody, but no matter how sad we are to see it close, our spirits are lifted because fall is the best time of year for wine. Harvest is in full swing, new releases are plentiful, shipping of purchases can safely commence, and truffle season is so close you can almost smell it. So as we say goodbye to summer, we’ve got an exciting offer to help share our autumnal enthusiasm.
We can’t think of a better way to celebrate fall than with Barbaresco, specifically the region’s powerhouse of values, Produttori del Barbaresco. Last year, we came out fast and early with this incredible must-own wine (at the time unrated), selling out our sizeable parcel in under an hour. This year, we were able to secure the new release with one major distinction: this one already has an impressive 95-point score from Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate. And even more thrilling? We were able to keep last year’s jaw-dropping price: only $210 per 6-pack! And since we know these 750s are going to disappear in a flash, we’ve sweetened the pot with magnums and 3-liters as well.
Remaining in Piedmont, we’re ramping up our 2019 offers, leading today with a new and exciting one: Fratelli Alessandria. Incredibly, they were the first to establish a Monvigliero bottling, and all this time later are only finally getting the recognition they deserve. I vividly remember selling the 2010s years ago, and saying, “You’ll regret not buying more of these wines.” Fast forward to today, and those have not only aged beautifully, but become excellent investments as well. I think Monica Larner summed up this year’s releases best by saying, “This is a terrific set of very exciting wines from Vittore Alessandria and his family.”
Elio Grasso also shows off new wines, with both of these 2019s recently receiving 97-point ratings. These have been stellar values for 15 years now, and somehow continue to be, despite the tremendous press they’ve received along the way. And speaking of great value/press combinations, we recently reloaded on G.D. Vajra’s Bricco delle Viole, boasting two 97-point scores of its own. In the same category, we still have some of Paolo Scavino’s 2019s left, which have received their own strong critical praise. For those looking past the 2019 vintage, we have some older gems from both Lorenzo Accomasso and Giacomo Conterno that you won’t want to miss.
If you’re looking beyond Piedmont today, we have exciting new releases from Solaia and Masseto (both 2020), plus a brilliant quartet from Jean Foillard (including the elusive Cuvée 3.14). Today’s offer also features a smattering of tremendous Champagnes from Taittinger, Dom Pérignon, and Bollinger. And closing this great Old World list is a selection from Burgundy icons Roulot, Cathiard, and Méo-Camuzet.
