The 1997 is a famous Solaia, and it is superb tonight. Opulent and rich in the glass, the 1997 (magnum) is also surprisingly tannic for a wine of its age. I admire its inner perfume and overall richness, but in this flight I have a slight preference for the 1994 and 1995. [Antonio Galloni, 22/09/2020]

The 1997 Solaia is awesome. Sweet, open aromatics lead to a rich, full-bodied expression of dark cherries, plums, menthol and spices. This sensual, full-bodied wine remains youthful and full of life. The 1997 is a great Solaia. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2017. [10/01/2009]
