Tasting Notes

Vinous 94

The 2001 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc clearly has more intensity on the nose than the millennial, delivering upfront, slightly more exotic scents of passion fruit, guava, beeswax and jasmine. This shows fine focus and delineation, and I agree with Olivier Bernard that its brioche component makes it quite Burgundian. The palate is well balanced and tensile, offering notes of sour lemon, white peach and nectarine and a little grapefruit on the long, bitter-edged finish. This intense white Pessac-Léognan is drinking beautifully. [Neal Martin, 22/09/2021]

Tasted at the chateau. Mixed reactions to this wine in the past, but here the Domaine de Chevalier Blanc 2001 does nothing but impress. It has a more complex nose than the 2000 with citrus lemon, coconut and lychee aromas all with arresting definition. The palate is exquisitely balanced, focused with very good acidity, notes of apples, lychee and a touch of guava towards the finish. Excellent length. Superb. Tasted September 2008. [01/09/2008]
