Ruby-red. Crushed cassis and caramel on the nose. Dense and sweet on the palate, with a deep core of cassis fruit. Powerful, ripe, long wine, finishing with sweet tannins and a youthful, juicy quality. This needs a few years of patience. Just 400 cases were produced from a very small harvest. The 2001 vintage was the first harvest here to include the recently replanted portion of this vineyard. [Stephen Tanzer, 05/01/2006]
