Tasted at the IMW Lafite seminar in London. The 2003 Duhart Milon has a soft, slightly meaty bouquet with touches of allspice and dried blood tincturing the black, smoky fruit with its savoury side developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with savoury fruit and quite dry tannins. It is well balanced but it lacks vivacity and tension, with the finish drifting towards a light herbaceous finish. Tasted February 2012.
(a 73/27 blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot) Bright ruby-red. Blackcurrant, blueberry, black cherry, violet, tobacco, fresh herbs and currant leaf on the slightly medicinal, quintessential cabernet nose. Then broad, fat and rich, with a layered texture and enticing sweetness. Showing its cabernet side today, but this is thoroughly ripe, seamless cabernet.
