The entry level cuvee from this terrific estate is the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape, and it checks in as a mix of 75% Grenache, 12% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre, with the balance other permitted varieties. I should have bought a case of this as it’s as classic Southern Rhone as they come and offers ripe, full-throttle notes of cured meats, black raspberries, incense and spice. Full-bodied, complex and loaded with character, it has impeccable tannin quality and will keep for another decade.
Anticipated maturity: 2012-2027
