2009 Chateau Hosanna, Pomerol 1×1.5L

The 2009 Hosanna has a ripe, decadent, sumptuous bouquet with glossy black cherry and blueberry aromas, becoming quite floral in the glass. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry but I find the oak a little too conspicuous in this bottle, quite toasty in style with woody tannins on the finish. Medium to deep garnet colored, the 2009 Hosanna has a dark-fruited, broody nose of stewed black plums, blackberry preserves and blackcurrant cordial with touches of pencil lead, bay leaves, beef drippings and fungi. Full-bodied with a firm, chewy frame, the palate gives loads of savory/earthy layers and a ferrous finish. [Lisa Perrotti-Brown, 22/02/2019]
