The very deep, purple-black colored 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon (a barrel sample) is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Even at this very nascent stage, the nose offers amazing vibrancy, with expressive black cherries, boysenberries and cassis scents plus underlying suggestions of cedar chest, pencil lead, charcoal, wild sage, Indian spices, red roses and tapenade with a waft of forest floor. Medium-bodied, the palate is oh-so-elegant, with beautifully expressed, exquisitely ripe tannins and plenty of freshness to support the layer-upon-layer of fresh, crunchy black fruits sparked by loads of exotic spices, finishing with great length and depth.
